Professional Behaviour

To ensure we maintain professional boundaries and ensure our patients remain just our patients the following should be used as a guidelines:

  • Never exchange personal phone numbers or call patient from your own phone

  • Avoid developing friendships with patients in general

  • APA recommends no dating of patients unless they have been discharged for at least 6 months

  • Avoid using a full palm grip when manually treating, especially around the lower body

  • Ensure your patient is appropriately draped at all times

  • Never follow a patient on social media unless they have already followed you on your business account

  • Never follow a patient using a personal social media account

  • Document and escalate to supervisor should a patient make a comment, action or touch you in a way that has made you feel uncomfortable or you believes crosses a boundary

  • Never make derogatory comments about another patient, staff member, health professional

Expectations with Coworkers

We believe in a state of casual professionalism at RX. This means we want to enjoy our time while at work with our colleagues while still maintaining a professional standard. This means we do not want to feel like we are in the army but there are a few key standards we must uphold to ensure we show our patients and selves how we take our role seriously.

The following are general guidelines to assist in how to set your own standard:

  • No sexist or sexualised jokes

  • No comments on people appearance in a derogatory manner

  • No inappropriate touching, this could include but not limited to:

    • Frequent standing behind and rubbing shoulders

    • Brushing past in closed or open spaces

    • Any touch a college is not comfortable with

  • No staring at colleagues in an inappropriate manner

  • No commenting on a colleagues performance in relation to income, patient results, targets ect.

    • If you are concerned on a colleagues level of professionalism and/or performance please talk to your supervisor

  • Never make derogatory comments about patients

  • Never discuss patient specifics in public areas

  • Any comment/behaviour/action that a colleague feels uncomfortable with

Admin Specific

The below are part of policy and standards of practice. They also ensure a professional running of the physiotherapy clinic to avoid oversights, overdue AHTR, lapse communication with our referral base.

The following are very important to maintaining RX Physiotherapy's level of care:

  • All patient notes are to be completed before the start of the next business day

  • Worker cover should not be any more than 0 before sending a new AHTR

    • Using a session with patient to write AHTR in conjunction with them

    • Allowances are made for insurer not approving in timely manner

  • Room to be cleaned and restocked regularly

  • CC reception in all emails to insurers

  • GP letter update prior to work cover patients capacity review
